Who I am today is best captured by the powerful isiZulu proverb “umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu,” meaning that a person is a person through other people. This is largely attributable to the culture of service and empowerment of others instilled in me by my parents from a very young age, which gave rise to an innate knowing that whichever career path I chose, I was going to pursue a profession where my life’s work was in helping to uplift others in some way.
Despite the constant “universal nudges”, I initially entered a BSc in Genetics, Physiology and Psychology at the University of Pretoria. However, I found myself deeply captivated by the Medical Psychology modules exclusively, and decided to pour all of my attention into my fascination with the human mind. I went on to complete a Bachelor of Social Science in General and Industrial Psychology and an Honours in Psychology at the University of KwaZulu-Natal before completing a B.Psych in Psychometry at Stellenbosch University thereafter.
My training as an intern psychometrist was conducted under the supervision of a psychometrist whose practice involved active collaboration with psychiatrists and psychologists at Akeso Milnerton, Vredekloof and Tygervalley Clinics. This experience was invaluable to me, and further solidified my love for psychometric assessment and its ability to translate complex aspects of cognitive and scholastic functioning into meaningful, objective insight.
Today, my work is grounded in warmth, empathy and the belief that assessment should be a journey of discovery, rather than a daunting test. I hope to create an assessment space where individuals feel seen and understood, while providing objective psychometric insight that extends beyond scores to illuminate the person behind the profile. Ultimately, I aspire to bridge the gap between assessment and understanding, translating psychometric insight into meaningful support. Beyond the assessment room, I share a deep love for dogs and a strong passion for supporting animal rescue initiatives - an extension of the same values of care, compassion and service that guide me in my professional life.
